Flounder

Thank you for helping us with Flounder's needs. You gave me the opportunity to be with Flounder in her final hours and minutes. This was very important to me. It was not easy, but I absolutely knew I did the right thing when I put her in the car for her ride to Noah's Ark. Like most cats she hated the car and the vet. Your service gave Flounder a very peaceful a very quiet goodbye. Thank you so much, your care is invaluable. Best wishes to you a your family this holiday season. Glenn Stewart

Madeleine

Thank you so much for your caring service to Madeleine. I strongly sense she very peacefully passed over the Rainbow Bridge. My sister Chris put together a Smile box and I thought you might enjoy watching it since you met Madeleine. I intend to take one of these pictures and put together a memorial for your web page. I'll send it on as soon as I've put it together. Again, thank you for your kindness, Patricia Morningstar

Rhody

Dixie

I just wanted to thank you again for your very great kindness last night. Electing to euthanize Dixie was one of the most difficult decisions of our lives, but I am grateful to you for making it just a little more bearable to say goodbye to her. It was the right thing to do for her, but heart-breaking in a way I can't begin to describe in words.

I am glad she could be at home, smelling familiar smells, eating her favorite treats, and able to sleep peacefully for awhile in her own bed. I couldn't have beared to have her die in a clinic with strangers all around.

Before your arrival last night, I struggled with the feeling that I was betraying her, because she was so alert and 'there' before her death -- you wouldn't have known anything was wrong with her when she was sleeping. But then she would try to try to walk and fail and then try again and fail again, and it was just so tragic. To live a life of such diminished quality, being deaf and mostly blind, too, seemed selfish and cruel -- especially because I remember vividly how agile and graceful she was not so long ago.

I miss that old girl.

I just wanted you to know how much we appreciate your compassion and dedication to easing the suffering of beloved pets, most particularly that of our beloved Dixie. With gratitude and thanks, Vicki

Melanie

It was with great sadness that we came to the decision that Melanie was
no longer able to live a comfortable life. The pain was in her eyes
despite her continuously wagging tail and big smile. Our loving
companion, faithful guardian of our children, and sister to Katie needed
to go where she would no longer be in pain and could run again as she
did before she was sick.

We knew we did not want her to spend her last moments at the vet's
office where she was nervous and scared. She spent much of her time
sleeping on pillows in the family room and that is were she was when Dr.
Deutsch arrived. We truly appreciate and are forever thankful for the
calm, gentle steps that Dr. Deutsch took to bring a peaceful ending to
Melanie's life. There was no drama, shock, or pain for Melanie. She
quietly went to sleep with her family holding her in her favorite spot.

We miss Melanie very much and will always remember our loyal girl. She
is at peace now.

Melanie

Gypsy

Dear Dr. Deutsch, Thank you for making our dog's last moments on this earth as peaceful as you did. What you do for pet owners is beyond words. Our Gypsy was home, smelling her owners and her world. I will never forget being there petting her, whispering that we loved her and what a good girl she was as she went to sleep. God Bless you sir. You are a very special man! With Great Gratitude, Jim and Jill & Gypsy~ Jill Saupp

Max

Dear Drs. Galvan, Nelson, & Otis and the Alexandria Staff: Steve and I want to thank you for everything you did for Max. Max recently took a serious decline in his health and was not enjoying his everyday activities nor able to sleep comfortably. Also, we could not get him to eat. As his parents, we knew it was time. Yesterday, we took many small slow walks with Max, a long car ride, and sat outside with him.

Last night, Dr. Deutsch came to our home and put Max to rest. We appreciate you recommending Dr. Deutsch. He is an Angel along with each one of you. Max was brave in his battle, but this disease was too difficult to combat. The hard part was how the cancer took Max's breath away and that was difficult to watch. It's been an unbelievable four-month journey! Again, we appreciate the time you spent with Steve and I, and your patience during these past four months. We know you cared about Max. Our beloved pet is resting and had a very peaceful end. Take care, Karen Garth

Jesse

While everyone here still feels the loss of a member of our "pack", animals too or so it appears, I just wanted to take the time to thank you very much for coming by a couple of Saturdays ago to help us bring Jesse's life to a peaceful end. Kind regards, John Cahill

Tala

Tala was a Shih Tzu / Poodle mix ... black with white on her belly. Tala is a Native American Indian name meaning "Stalking Wolf" which I thought was humorous since my little Tala only weighed 3.5 pounds on her first visit to you at Burke Veterinary Clinic in June 1995. Everyone loved her, she was such a sweet little girl. I had to put Tala to sleep on April 14, 2010... her 15th birthday would have been on April 16, 2010. It was very hard for me to say goodbye. Fifteen years is a long time to be together. Dorothy H Seaman

Pearl

Thank you for helping ensure that Pearl's departure from this world was
comfortable and peaceful. I could not have asked for more humane and
considerate care than what you provided for her in her last moments of life.
It was a hard decision to make, but I am comforted knowing that she died
peacefully here at home without any stress or pain. I appreciated have her
fall comfortably asleep in my arms out on the deck. Anakin, her son and
Luna, her great niece were able to see her and I think they know that she is
gone. Anakin is sleeping in her bed now. He's a bit quiet, but I am hoping
that this will be easier for him than if Pearl had just disappeared from the
household. He is 11 and was very attached to his old mom. You are right that
this is an important service to provide us humans who consider their canine
companions to be an important part of the family. Thank you.
Sincerely yours, Kathy McEnearney
